According to wikipedia,  Ransomware is a type of malicious software that carries out the cryptoviral extortion attack from cryptovirology that blocks access to data until a ransom is paid and displays a message requesting payment to unlock it.

Literary it  means  the victim’s data will be coded via their malicious software and the cyber attacker would then demand to enter codes to unlock before regaining access which they alone could provide in exchange for a demanded amount and payment requested via Bitcoin to make their real identity remain hidden and sealed off from their victims and cyber crimes monitoring agencies.


How To Prevent  or stop Ransomware?

1.  Avoid downloading free software from untrusted sources online

2.  Check to make sure your Antivirus is up-to-date  including their latest patches

3. Download and install latest Windows patches for your version of Windows OS

4.  Train yourself/ employees to identify malicious emails

5.  Avoid opening or clicking on spam emails

6.  Make sure all your softwares are updated with there latest patches

7.  Backup your data frequently on separate storage  device and disconnect it from the active one
